Helen MacGregor is a seasoned nurse with over 30 years of experience across aged residential care, primary care, urban emergency departments, urgent care, and rural hospital and community settings. She also brings over 15 years of service as an ambulance volunteer, reflecting her deep commitment to frontline care.
Raised in rural and remote New Zealand, Helen brings a deeply rooted understanding of the unique challenges and strengths of rural communities to her work.

Currently serving as the Clinical Chief Advisor Rural at the Ministry of Health, Helen is a passionate advocate for rural health equity. Her career has been defined by a commitment to ensuring that the rural voice is not only heard but echoed loudly in health policy and decision-making. Proudly rural, Helen continues to champion initiatives that strengthen rural healthcare systems and support the wellbeing of rural populations.
